In anticipation of icy conditions on Friday, we will not be gathering in LOVE Park at 2:14pm. On V-Day (and every day) our primary concern is the safety of our communities, so instead of gathering in person, we will be planning to RISE UP and raise our voice via social media. Here's how...
At the bottom of the page (or by clicking here), you’ll find an “I’m rising because…” document. Print it out and write a personalized message about why you’re rising for justice. Then, take a photo of yourself holding your sign and post it on our Facebook page or Tweet it at us with the hashtags #rise4justice, #1billionrising, and #riseabovesnow.
Once you’ve posted your photo or video, forward this link to five friends or family members and ask them to do the same. Together, we rise – above snow, and for justice.
Thanks for using your powerful voice and being a part of this global movement to end gender-based violence!
WOMEN'S WAY is once again joining forces with Eve Ensler and the One Billion Rising campaign to demand an end to violence against women and girls!
What is One Billion Rising
In coordination with teams around the country and around the world, One Billion Rising is a wake up call for all of us who have had it with victim-blaming, slut-shaming, rape, harassment, intimidation and abuse. Enough is enough! In solidarity, people across the globe are coming together on V-Day to RISE, STRIKE and DANCE.
For survivors of violence, justice can take many forms. It can be an apology or reparations. It can be taking legal action. It can be about making the truth visible. It can be prosecuting, or pushing to create change, or implementing policies and laws that ensure the protection of women’s rights. It can be calling for an end to all forms of inequality, discrimination, misogyny and patriarchy. It can be naming or shaming perpetrators – whether they be individuals, groups, corporations or the state. Demanding accountability. Rising for justice can be personal, social, economic, cultural, environmental or political. It can be a revolutionary call to restore dignity and respect for all women.
