Nominate a Book for the 2013 Ernesta Drinker Ballard Book Prize

The Ernesta Drinker Ballard Book Prize honors a female author for her work in advancing the dialogue about women’s rights.  Established in 2007, this prize honors the legacy of Ernesta Drinker Ballard, a WOMEN’S WAY founder, first president of its Board of Directors and extraordinary champion for women and girls.   The Ernesta Drinker Ballard Book Prize is presented annually by WOMEN’S WAY.

Around 200 guests joined WOMEN'S WAY at Moore College of Art & Design on March 15, 2012, for the Ernesta Drinker Ballard Book Prize honoring Rebecca Traister for her book Big Girls Don't Cry: The Election That Changed Everything for American Women. Traister was interviewed by Tamala Edwards of 6ABC. The audience was thrilled with the timely, lively, and often amusing discussion. 6ABC covered the event. Check out the video.

Our Response to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation's Decision to Defund Planned Parenthood

UPDATE:

Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation announced that they "will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities."

Roe v. Wade Anniversary Action Event

WOMEN'S WAY, Raising Women's Voices of Southeastern Pennsylvania, and Pennsylvanians For Choice held a Roe v. Wade Anniversary Action Event on Friday, January 20, 2012, from noon to 1:00 pm on Broad and Walnut Streets.  This outdoor "honk and wave" visibility event in Center City, Philadelphia helped us reflect on what is at stake for women and tell our lawmakers enough is enough! We are fed up with the on going attacks on women's reproductive health.
