Violence Prevention

Despite great progress made since WOMEN'S WAY was established almost 35 years ago, violence against women is still endemic in our society and resources for survivors are scarce.  Violence against women comes in many forms - domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, and human trafficking - and WOMEN'S WAY is firmly committed to ending this shameful assault on women and girls.

Domestic violence continues to plague far too many women.

Did you know:

  • One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.
  • Almost 1/3 of female homicide victims reported in police records are killed by an intimate partner.

Women and girls are enduring sexual assault at alarming rates.

Did you know:

  • One in six women will be a victim of attempted or completed rape in her lifetime.
  • Nearly all rape victims in the Philadelphia region are women, and nearly 4 in 10 are under 18 years old.

The majority of victims of the horrific crime of human trafficking in the U.S. are women and girls.

Did you know:

  • After drug dealing, human trafficking is tied with the illegal arms trade as the second largest criminal industry in the world, and it is the fastest growing.
  • Approximately 80% of all human trafficking victims are women and girls.

WOMEN'S WAY strives to create a society where all women can live safe and free which is why we are committed to ending violence against women through our advocacy work.
