Anti-Human Trafficking Victory!

WOMEN'S WAY is thrilled to share exciting news from Harrisburg! On October 18, 2011, the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline Act (SB 338) was unanimously voted out of the Senate Labor & Industry Committee!  This state legislation, sponsored by Senator Daylin Leach, would require posting of the National Hotline so trafficking victims can call to get help.

This is a BIG step towards passing this life-saving legislation into law! There is still much work to be done to achieve this important goal and we are not going to rest until it happens! We know this bill will help women and girls, who are forced to endure brutal violence, escape from this horrific situation.

Thanks to all of you who made calls to the Senators on the Labor & Industry Committee - your advocacy really did have an impact!

Please stay tuned for further updates and action alerts on this issue...

WOMEN'S WAY is a proud member of the Philadelphia Anti-Trafficking Coalition and Chair of the Coalition's Advocacy Committee. For more information, contact Rebecca Foley, WOMEN'S WAY's Director of Public Policy.
