Shasia's Story

7/9/11

Shasia completed Women's Opporutunities Resource Center's (WORC), a WOMEN'S WAY grantee, Start Smart Training Program and then enrolled in the Family Savings Account Program. She saved and was matched $2,000 and leveraged her savings with a business loan through WORC’s subsidiary loan program, the Economic Opportunities Fund, to pay the first and last month’s rent and security deposit on her newly secured building as well as furniture and other equipment for her childcare center.

“What I like most about WORC’s programs is that the information that you learned was directly related to things that you actually need and use in the day-to-day operation of your business. The program has taught me that success not only has to do with offering a good product or service, but that the key to being able to continue to offer these goods is directly related to gaining the appropriate financial knowledge and resources to generate them.” - Shasia
