Recap: 3rd Annual Gender Wealth Summit
On September 20th, WOMEN’S WAY and the Gender Wealth Institute hosted the 3rd Annual Gender Wealth Summit, giving attendees an amazing opportunity to connect with 10 local organizations whose work is helping to close the gender wealth gap. Throughout the event, we explored how these organizations’ strategies line up with the five dimensions of the WOMEN’S WAY Gender Wealth Framework (formerly the Gender Wealth Index):
- Health and Healing
- Stability and Opportunity
- Freedom, Joy, and Belonging
- Family and Community Care
- Resource Support and Navigation
This year’s summit was all about coming together to strategize around our collective needs, set clear priorities, and build a community that’s ready to take action and create wealth for all. Read on for event highlights and next steps!
Event highlights:
Opening Performance: The summit kicked off with an energetic performance by percussionist Karen “Magic Fingaz” Smith, whose dynamic rhythms set the stage for a day of powerful conversations and collaboration.
Featured Speakers and Discussions: Ten local speakers shared how their work directly addresses the five dimensions of the Gender Wealth Framework. From expanding access to health and healing to creating opportunities for economic stability and community care, each speaker offered practical strategies for driving change. We were thrilled to hear from:
- Brittany Alston, Philly Black Worker Project
- Marquita Bolden, Therapy Center of Philadelphia
- Terrell Cannon, Home Care Associates
- Phoebe Jones, Crossroads Women’s Center
- Nora Lichtash, Women’s Community Revitalization Project (WCRP)
- Candace McKinley, Philadelphia Community Bail Fund
- Tanya T. Morris, Mom Your Business
- Mercy Mosquera, VozColectiva Newsroom
- Selina Stanford, Sankofa Healing Studio
- Deborah Wei, Asian Americans United
Interactive Breakout Sessions: Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in group reflections and a group mapping activity, where we worked together to visualize the challenges and opportunities for building wealth in our communities. These activities fostered deep conversations around shared priorities and helped lay the groundwork for future collaboration.
