WOMEN'S WAY relies on countless volunteers to assist us in meeting our critical mission. Volunteers help with advocacy, grantmaking, event planning, fundraising, award selections, communications projects and more. If you are interested in pitching in, please contact Cate Galbally to discuss your interests and our current volunteer needs.
A sampling of some of our committes is listed below:
Corporate Outreach Committee
The goal of this committee is to assist WOMEN’S WAY to build its network of corporate prospects and sponsors. This committee works to identify and qualify prospects, explore cultivation and solicitation strategies, and ensure proper stewardship of corporate sponsors. Corporate Outreach Committee members need not be WOMEN’S WAY Board members. Members should be willing to connect WOMEN'S WAY with individuals involved with potential corporate sponsors.
Ernesta Drinker Ballard Book Prize Committee
Each year WOMEN’S WAY honors a female author with the Ernesta D. Ballard Book Prize for her work in advancing the dialogue about women’s rights. Established in 2007, this prize honors the legacy of Ernesta Drinker Ballard, a WOMEN’S WAY founder, first president of its Board of Directors and extraordinary champion for women and girls. The award is given to a selected recipient during a March event. The committee starts to meet in the late Spring to select the winner for the following year.
Men's Initiative Council
WOMEN’S WAY’s Men’s Initiative recognizes men's key role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of women in the home, workplace, and community, and works to celebrate and inspire men's commitment to causes that impact women, girls, and families in our region. The Men’s Initiative Council is a volunteer body that offers guidance, advice, and support to help WOMEN'S WAY achieve its mission. Council members serve as a sounding board and source of ideas and expertise, and provide honest and productive feedback on strategic initiatives, communications strategies, resource development, community impact, and WOMEN'S WAY's image in the community. Members will act as ambassadors, broadening WOMEN'S WAY's network to ensure the greatest reach for its grantmaking, education, advocacy, and fundraising work.
Powerful Voice Awards Committee
The Powerful Voice Awards is WOMEN'S WAY's largest annual fundraising event. Committee members will select the Unsung Heroine Award winners and have a hands-on role in outreach and attendance-building. The committee is comprised of outgoing, hardworking women who are eager to act as ambassadors for WOMEN’S WAY and make a substantive difference in the community, while networking and skill-building with peers.
Young Women's Initiative Events Committee
The Events Committee works to provide volunteers with an opportunity to develop creative outreach events for YWI and WOMEN’S WAY. Event Committee members plan and execute events that further WOMEN’S WAY’s mission to raise money and public awareness to fight for and achieve women’s equality, safety, self-sufficiency, and reproductive freedom through women-centered funding, advocacy, and education. Examples of events include Happy Hours, book clubs, workshops and cocktail party fundraisers.
