Thank you for your attending our 39th Annual Powerful Voice Awards on Tuesday, May 3rd! The dinner was an incredible success, and it was inspiring and humbling to see so many friends, supporters and community members come out in support of WOMEN’S WAY, and for the amazing women we honored and the community we serve. Thanks to all our volunteers who worked tremendously hard to ensure the event was a success, and thanks to YOU for being there and raising your powerful voice with so many others. Seeing the turnout in support of the work WOMEN’S WAY does only serves to inspire us to continue the work we do, and even more!
WOMEN’S WAY is proud to continue its tradition of honoring inspiring women who make a positive and visionary impact in our community and throughout the country. For 39 years, we have honored a woman of national recognition with our Lucretia Mott Award, presented at our annual Powerful Voice Awards dinner. This year, we were especially thrilled to honor Marty Moss-Coane of WHYY’s Radio Times, and local resident.
Marty Moss-Coane is a local and national figure, whose work in the community literally exposes the powerful voices of women and community members, touching on subjects that are core aspects of WOMEN’S WAY’s mission. In the area of broadcast journalism, we look to strong women who highlight the issues that include justice for girls and women, safety in our community, and equality, and who serve as models of inspiration themselves.
Our local honorees, Calenthia Dowdy of Philly FIGHT, and Monica Harmon, of UPenn Nursing and Nurse Family Partnership, embody the local activism, dedication, and inspiration of our community, and especially are representative of our mission statement. Both women have spent their lives serving the Philly community, and have enacted tangible change and progress in the process.
