We recently distributed funding to 3 new Immediate Response Action Fund grantees!

No More Secrets Mind Body Spirit Inc.- $10,000

No More Secrets Mind Body Spirit Inc was facing a sudden increase in demand of services as they received an overwhelming amount of requests for feminine hygiene products from marginalized populations. This increase amounted to 300x their normal delivery rate. We responded with a grant that will support their SPOT Period Menstrual Hub, the first menstrual hub in the country!

Quote: “We are deeply humbled and appreciative of the support we received from WOMEN’S WAY Immediate Response Action Fund. This emergency assistance will provide the funding No More Secrets needs to cover the immediate operational costs associated with the opening of the 1st Menstrual Hub in the nation during a national pandemic to address the overwhelming number of persons dealing with Menstrual insecurity (The SPOT Period).” – No More Secrets Mind Body Spirit Inc.

Maternal and Child Health Consortium- $10,000

Maternal and Child Health Consortium faced an increase in demand for their Healthy Start Program. We responded within 10 business days with a grant to support this program which primarily serves Black and Latinx women! The Healthy Start Program provides perinatal health services and health screenings for low-income pregnant and parenting women and their children ages 0-18 months.

Quote: “Supporting women has been at the core of MCHC services since the beginning. For pregnant and parenting women living in poverty, lack of access to resources to maintain their health and high healthcare costs leave so many in a vulnerable position that affects both the family and the entire community. That’s where MCHC comes in. Our Healthy Start home-visiting program has a 30-year history of reducing maternal and infant health disparities through perinatal health education, health insurance and food benefits enrollments, health screenings and referrals, and social support. We’re so grateful for WOMEN’S WAY’s partnership and shared goal to advance opportunities for women in Greater Philadelphia” – Maternal and Child Health Consortium

Womanist Working Collective- $10,000

Womanist Working Collective faced an increase in demand for Time Banking training, support and participation. WOMEN’S WAY responded within 10 business days with a grant to support this service exchange system. It creates a network of individuals, grassroots organizations and cooperatives or community-benefiting businesses to mobilize services and resources to meet community members’ needs.

Quote: “Thanks to the emergency financial support from WOMEN’S WAY, we’ve been able to launch the second iteration of our community-wide time bank project which helps alleviate the impacts of Time Poverty through interdependence, cooperation, mutualism, and self-determination. This service-exchange system connects a network of neighbors, grassroots organizations and cooperatives/community-benefiting businesses to mobilize services and resources to meet each others needs. When combined with other Social and Solidarity Economy strategies, time banking has the potential to create a grassroots economic alternative to Capitalism that can and has been scaled up in cities across the globe.” – Womanist Working Collective
