About This Event:

EVERYONE EATS: REIMAGINING THE SOCIAL SAFETY NET

August 13, 2026 | 5:00 - 7:30 PM | Culinary Literacy Center, Parkway Central Library (1901 Vine Street, 19103)

A Communal Dining Experience

The social safety net is under attack—from decreased funding for food pantries to increasing barriers for critical programs like WIC and SNAP. In this shifting landscape, how can we keep ourselves and our communities nourished?

Join us in the kitchen for an interactive 6-course tasting menu from Studio Emefa. Through group activities, mindfulness exercises, and guided discussions, we'll redefine how we connect to food and to each other. We'll be joined by local food advocates and organizers from SNAP Defenders to ground our conversation in the realities of our community. Together, we'll expand our collective imagination around what a social safety net can truly be.
