WOMEN’S WAY Gender Wealth Summit to Provide Preview of Region’s First Gender Wealth Index

For Immediate Release

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 12, 2023) – WOMEN’S WAY, the Greater Philadelphia region’s leading nonprofit dedicated to gender and racial equity, proudly presents the 2nd Annual Gender Wealth Summit. Scheduled for September 22, 2023, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Quorum, University City Science Center, this event promises to be a pivotal gathering for advocates, experts, and changemakers. With thought-provoking speakers and interactive workshops, the Gender Wealth Summit will provide a platform for sharing insights, fostering collaboration, and working together to build an equitable future.

This year’s summit will unveil findings from the recently completed Gender Wealth Index research project. Launched in 2022, this large-scale regional research campaign, conducted in collaboration with system-impacted communities, identifies key drivers of gender wealth inequity and will lead to the creation of the region’s first Gender Wealth Index – an assessment tool that comprises quantifiable socioeconomic measures to better understand the wealth experiences of women.

To provide insights into the data, methodologies, and findings from the Gender Wealth Index, the summit will feature presentations by the researchers and participants at the forefront of this transformative research project, including lead researcher Dr. Kendrick B. Davis, from USC’s Center for Race and Equity, and Kelly Sheard, Director of the WOMEN’S WAY Gender Wealth Institute. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the complex factors driving gender wealth disparities, contribute to the further development of the index, and be a part of a movement to close the gender wealth gap.

“Our commitment to advancing gender and racial equity remains steadfast,” said Kelly Sheard, Director of the Gender Wealth Institute at WOMEN’S WAY. “The Gender Wealth Summit is a testament to our dedication to addressing wealth disparities and empowering individuals from all backgrounds to drive evidence-based action on policies and practices that will enable gender wealth parity.”
