Closing the Gender Wealth Gap Forum: Incarceration as Wealth Extraction
This event was held on Nov. 13. Join us at our next Closing the Gender Wealth Gap Forum. Learn more about the series here.
Incarceration is a form of wealth extraction. More specifically, the strategies of exploitation and extraction before, during, and after incarceration reflect the harmful nature of the gender wealth gap.
Our final Closing the Gender Wealth Gap Forum of 2024 highlighted stories and insights from our Change the Narrative Fellows. Fellows discussed the connection between the gender wealth gap and the strategies of exploitation and extraction implemented in the criminal legal system. Fellows also reflected on their experiences making "Beyond The Razor Wire Fence," a podcast about their stories, which is available to stream on all platforms.
